Above The Clouds

Burj Khalifa Immersive
3D Web Design Concept

Inspired by Dubai's rare and magical fog season, I've designed and developed an immersive 3D website concept for Burj Khalifa in one and half months using Blender, Figma, Claude Code and Antigravity. Everything you see on this page was captured running real-time inside a browser.

Idea & Concept

After the fictional world of Cyber City Orion, I wanted my next project to come from a real experience. I kept thinking about the time I spent photographing Dubai during fog season. From the tops of the skyscrapers, the city would completely disappear beneath the fog, leaving only the towers "above the clouds". That perspective inspired me to design an immersive 3D web experience that captures the same feeling of scale, isolation, and wonder.

Behind The Scenes

Designed in Figma and Blender, the experience combines multiple real-time 3D techniques to recreate Dubai's atmospheric fog season around Burj Khalifa. The Burj Khalifa itself was optimized as a GLB model, while the surrounding cityscape was built using 3D Gaussian Splats generated with SkySplat and further optimized with SuperSplat for web performance. Volumetric ray-marched clouds were developed to create the dense cloud layers and cinematic atmosphere seen throughout the experience.

The project was developed using Claude Code and Antigravity, with a strong focus on responsiveness, optimization, and cross-platform compatibility to ensure smooth performance across desktop, tablet, mobile, and older devices. The tech stack includes Three.js, Spark.js, GSAP, and Vite.
